It's Been A Good Life
I wrote this memorial ballad for my mother, Luella, on her death bed, age 97. She indeed had a good life, which was the inspiration for this song. I'm eternally grateful for the good life she made sure I had, as well.
She was my first piano teacher and introduction into the creative world of music, art and style that would shape much of my life. Mom also loved singing and playing in church, to which I gave a nod by including a choir in this arrangement. After the child-rearing years, Lu also applied herself to painting. The song's thumbnail is an excerpt of one of her art pieces.

Lyrics
Always knew this time would come
Certain as the setting sun
Now that day is here
We can't help pray for one more year
But you have always known
You're just going home
It's been a good life
Yeah, such a good life
When all the songs are sung
And all the bells have rung
When all is said and done
It's been a good life
It's been a good life
From bouncing on your knee
To the gift of family
You showed us what love is
Gave it all you had to give
Now you don't walk alone
As you're going home
It's been a good life
Yeah, such a good life
When all the songs are sung
And all the bells have rung
When all is said and done
It's been a good life
It's been a good life
Through joy and tears
You were always there
Steadily, so faithfully
Bonds forever shared
So you don't walk alone
As you're going home
It's been a good life
Yeah, such a good life
When all the songs are sung
And all the bells have rung
When all is said and done
It's been a good life
It's been a good life
